The Damned Don't Cry was loosely based on the life of Virginia Hill who was Benjamin Siegel's girlfriend in fact she was apparently not at home when Siegel was shot numerous times through the living room window of her home in Hollywood. The hotel and casino that Siegel created and built (it was one of the first on The Strip" he named the building the Flamingo Hotel since Virginia Hill had beautiful legs and her nickname was Flamingo.
